Above photo of Shomu-en Japanese Garden at Cheekwood. Shomu-en means "pine-mist garden." The "mist is created by the puffy flower heads of smoke trees planted between the hills and pruned to remain low. This gives the illusion of fog rising from the valleys, a scene very common in Tennessee. The garden was designed by David Engel.

REFERENCE LINKS: Especially good for the beginning bonsai artist wanting to research the internet for educational purposes. Also an extensive listing of Suiseki sites dealing with "Viewing Stones". The ying is Bonsai and the yang is Suiseki. A relatively new interest in the western world during the past decade.
