DINAH SHORE, JR. HISTORY
DINAH SHORE, JR. RELEASES DEBUT VINYL WITH ONE-OF-A-KIND ALBUM
JACKET ARTWORK!
Nashville, Tennessee...Music City has much more to offer than
just country music. Dinah Shore, Jr. proves that spacerock is
alive and well too. Their debut album is filled with psychedelic
textures of soundspace. A mix of instrumental and vocal tunes
with flavors of Gong, Can, Tortoise and Klaus Schulze. DSJ experiments
with sound. If you are hungry for something fresh, this limited-edition
release on vinyl is for you.
The main brain behind this group is founder, Todd Gerber. Originally from northern Indiana, Todd started recording with
synthesizers and guitars at the age of 14. He moved to Nashville
in 1988 and has been recording and performing there ever since.
Drummer and keyboardist, Rob Mitchell joins Todd to create the core of Dinah Shore, Jr. Rob has toured
the rave circuit as a drummer for electronic greats such as Orbital,
Moby and Aphex Twin. Over the past 3 years, several other musicians
have joined for live shows and recording sessions including Matt Swanson (from Clockhammer, My Dad Is Dead and Cyod), Stephen Anderson (a renowned student of guitarist Lenny Breau) and from time to
time Todd Gerber's brother, Lektronic Soundscapes recording artist, Tony Gerber. Currently, the live configuration of the band is Todd, Rob,
Matt and Steve.
What makes this vinyl so special? Two main items. The project
was mastered by Tommy Dorsey at Nashville's finest mastering facility, Masterfonics. The lacquer
was cut on a vintage Neumann lathe creating a very smooth sounding
master. In addition, Todd and Rob have spent countless hours creating
one-of-a-kind album jacket artwork and labels for the LP itself.
Each recording package is different. A real bargain for the pocket
book and the ears.
Dinah Shore, Jr. is currently working on their 2nd album, which
will be released on CD in 1998 sometime. Matt Swanson and Steve
Anderson are joining Todd and Rob in the studio for this new release.
The Dinah Shore, Jr. limited edition album is also available at Tower Records and The
Great Escape in Nashville, TN.
