T. Gerber is the sound sculptor of DSJ.

TODD GERBER

Todd Gerber moved to Nashville from Northern Indiana in 1988. From '89-'91 he began solo sound experiments utilizing the Casio Sk-1 as the main instrument. After several years of Sk-1 tinkering, Todd recruited Troy Sharp (a local stick player and Tai-Chi instructor). After Todd showed Troy the "wonders" of the Sk-1, UMLAUT was born. Almost every day for several years Gerber and Sharp created bizarre worlds of sound. Armed only with Sk-1's, various acoustic instruments (gongs, drums, etc.) and a three-footer. Several tapes were compiled and handed out to friends. Over 45 hours of music was recorded over the three years UMLAUT existed ('92-'95). No official releases exist, nor were there any live shows.

Rob Mitchell entered the picture in 1994 and was initiated into the UMLAUT circle, though UMLAUT soon faded as other projects started to take more and more time. 1994 marked the beginning of The Shore which began to occupy all of Gerber and Mitchell's free time. Also in 1994, Gerber along with graphic artist, David Eller formed drrdrr, a new music ensemble consisting of Todd Gerber, David Eller, Tony Gerber, Rob Mitchell, Troy Sharp and Rob Pracht. The group played several successful art shows and a musical interpretation of "War of the Worlds". Soon, in 1995, drrdrr disbanded. Dinah Shore, Jr. began to play out live in 1995 and have continued to do 2-3 shows a year including performances with "The Amazing Delores", "Trans Am" and "Robert Fripp/Adrian Belew/Trey Gunn's Project II". DSJ continues to work on new recordings and upcoming performances. Look to this site to keep up to date with Dinah Shore, Jr.'s projects.
